This kit is a unique and innovative Australian
creation designed to allow access to music performance and
creation by all. It is specially configured to provide access to
those with special needs.
The Special Access Kit™ is
basically a music software program and a variety of switches that
connect to the computer. The switches can include those already
in use by students.
The kit includes one "Banana Keyboard"
, a unique piano type keyboard that is proximity sensitive and
may be programmed - any sound can be placed on any key at any
time.
The intention of the kit software is to be as
simple as possible to operate.
The SoundHouse Special Access Kit is suitable for
anyone working with people with special needs - teachers, aides,
therapists, in developing music performances and creative
expression.
The kit is intended to be a tool that can be used
by many professionals involved in implementing a student's
individualised education plan. Music therapists, physiotherapists,
occupational therapists, and classroom teachers should be
able to use the kit to create or find activities that will
motivate students to achieve set goals. The activities included
are intended to get you started, and will involve songwriting,
movement, singing, playing and listening. It is intended that
staff and students will be involved in creating specific
activities for their individual needs. Activities are also
intended to further both group and individual work.
