Resetting the Superscope PSD340 and PSD300 Recorders

Resetting the recorders will return all options to the factory default settings and starts the unit fresh! Just follow these directions:

  1. With the unit off (switch off both the top-left Standby power switch and the Master power switch on the back of the unit), simultaneously press down the rotary "SELECT" knob and the "Play" key of the CD-R (record) drive with your right hand fingers.
  2. While holding those functions down, reach to the backside of the unit with your left hand and press in the "POWER - ON/OFF" switch to turn on the unit.
  3. The lighted display on top of the unit should now read "PSD340" along with the operating system version number ("PSD340 VER 0.01" or similar).
  4. Once you see the read-out in the display, you can let go of everything. Then, simply turn the "POWER - ON/OFF" switch on the back of the unit to the off position. The reset is complete. Turn the unit back on and operate as normal.

When should you reset? Well, it's not a bad idea to try it each time you have a problem, but here are some typical problems which might be corrected with this simple exercise.
  • If you've made menu adjustments and cannot remember what the settings are
  • If the unit will not read any CDR's
  • Unit CDR drive will not open or close.
  • The Logic gets confused and unit is behaving strangely after you have confirmed the switch settings are correct.
  • Will not read a disc in the top tray.
  • Disc spinning backwards, will not read.
  • Will not respond to button(s) when pushed.
