  • The Redlands Ukulele Festival was a great success at Cleveland again this year, bigger and brighter than ever. Held on 13th and 14th June at various venues around Cleveland, the Festival included ukulele workshops, concerts and general jams right across the weekend. Headline act The Montgomery Brothers, featuring Ryo Montgomery once again dazzled with his uke pyrotechnics, and Bobby Alu soothed with his laid-back island style. Peter Wardrobe from Avid impressed the audience with the new features and benefits for users.     Uke'n Play Ukulele - As part of Seniors Week, a large contingent of seniors joined us for some musical fun on Wednesday 19th August at the Victoria Point Library at Lakeside. The ukulele group from Redland Bay Primary started off the entertainment during morning tea then we adjourned upstairs for a Free Ukulele lesson. The session was great and soon the group were singing and strumming along to some well-known tunes. Thanks to Richard Douglas from Pro Music who was there to show us some of the wide range of professional ukuleles now available through Binary Music.

    The Maryborough Music Conference was held from Saturday 11th July to 15th July. This biennial event is the biggest in the Queensland music education calendar, and this year drew over 600 delegates.   • Sonny Chua, composer and piano educator, joined us for 'East meets West', a weekend of music, learning and fine food on 23rd and 24th August. Binary Designs and Allans Publishing jointly sponsored this event which was enjoyed by piano students and teachers alike.

  • Lionel Murray, one of the authors of Mastering Music has completed a 2-day visit to Brisbane during which he presented several workshops to teachers showcasing this exciting new music e-learning tool.   • There was a great turnout for Fantasie in the Gardens, a free concert featuring the Australian Army Band at Brisbane's Mt Coot-Tha Botanical Gardens on Sunday 18th May. Everyone enjoyed the variety of fantasy music including selections from 'Harry Potter', 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Star Wars' with actors in full character costume. This concert was part of the 4MBS Classic FM Festival series and Binary Designs are proud to have sponsored this event. View Pictures here

  • 'Jack and the Beanstalk': A Fusion of Technology and Orchestral Performance by the Queensland Orchestra. Binary Designs were proud to be joint sponsors of this event presented at the Queensland Cultural Centre at Southbank. The team from Binary Designs assisted with rehearsals by providing a full midi-based score of the work for the actors and production crew.
